Soil Preparation for Tomato Cultivation

Now we will discuss about the soil preparation for Tomato. Soil preparation is done in some step wise format and these steps are very important to follow while planting tomatoes to get high production.

Step 1: The soil which is rich with sand, clay i.e. loamy, well drained and deep, that soil is perfectly suitable for the tomato planting. So be careful while choosing soil for tomato cultivation

Step 2: In well growth of tomato plant sunlight playing very important role. So for well growth of tomato plants, select an area that have direct sunlight at least for 5 to 6 hours.

Step 3: For tomato cultivation soil's acidity is very important point to consider. To test the pH level of the soil use pH soil testing tool kit. Tomato requires a more acidic soil with pH value of 6.2 to 6.8. If soil pH conditions aren't ideal for tomato cultivation then add fertilizer to soil, so that it is prepare for tomato planting.

Step 4: Move the soil using shovel while it is dry, because it is difficult to move soil while it is wet. Wet soil will stick to your tools and you will not able to properly work with that soil. Add the manure or compost to the soil for improving its fertility. Add in small amount of manure as mix your soil prior to planting.

Step 5: Tomato plants need being set deeply in the soil, such as up to their first leaves. So for this select an area having the deep soil. Also get a fertilizers having 5-5-10 ratio of potassium, nitrogen and phosphorous.

After performing these step your field is ready for planting the tomato crops.
